With the ongoing 2018 Beijing Auto Show, carmakers all over the world have presented their new models which are destined for the Chinese market alone. In this case, South Korean based Hyundai has arrived at the event with the locally-available LAFESTA model.
Longer and wider as expected, the all-new Hyundai LAFESTA presents itself as an appealing, modern yet sporty car, with a new design language and plenty of high-end configurations inside.
Speaking of design, the model comes with the carmaker`s latest ‘Sensuous Sportiness’, which mixes sporty capabilities with high-class feel.
Speaking of the new design language, Simon Loasby, CEO of Hyundai China Design, has also stated that “China is evolving quickly and so are Chinese people`s attitude. They are more self-confident, positive and creative. The LAFESTA will help us reflect this shifting trend. It`s clear demonstration of how our newly announced design vision, ‘Sensuous Sportiness’ comes to life in Hyundai vechicles.”
Up front, the LAFESTA model comes with a sort of cascading grille with a wider approach, along with elongated headlights, aggressive lower section with air intakes for better air flow and LED daytime running lights.
Inside the cabin, the new LAFESTA comes with borrowings from other high-end models like the new i30, meaning high-end materials and boasting technology at its finest. It is thus ready to compete the likes of the new A-Class from Mercedes-Benz or China`s finest BMW 1-Series.
The sedan is also fast for its class, with power coming from a 1.6 GDi turbo petrol flat-four cylinder engine, being sent to the wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. Power and torque are not provided yet, but it is likely to output around the same power as the i30 SR or Veloster SR, meaning around 150 kW. Stay tuned for additional info in the fourth quarter of the year, when it is slated for China!
