The new Peugeot 308 GTI has recently been spied while it was being tested in hot weather conditions ahead of an official launch which may take place at the Paris Motor Show in October.
The Peugeot 308 GTI has received a lowered suspension and a twin exhaust arrangement which differentiates it from the regular 308. The vehicle also benefits from a revised steering system, stiffer springs and dampers as well as lightweight 19-inch alloy wheels.
The Peugeot 308 GTI weighs around 1,270 kg which makes it lighter than many other hot hatches currently on the market.
Under the hood, the Peugeot 308 GTI is supposed to come with the same engine that will power the top-end model 308R, namely a 4-cylinder 1.6-litre THP engine and its power output will be somewhere around 250 hp. The trasmission will probably be a six-speed manual and the drive may go to the front wheels only.
Sales of the Peugeot 308 GTI should kick of in the early 2015. The car will be in direct competition with the Golf GTI.
