It seems that the popular carmaker Audi is planning to launch a new one-make racing series in Germany called Audi Sport TT Cup which is scheduled to commence next year and the backbone of the series will be a racing version of the new Audi TT which has recently been unveiled.
This Audi TT race car is based on the road-going TTS, being powered by the same 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine rated at 310 hp, but benefits from a push-to-pass boost of extra 30 hp. The engine is again mated to a six-speed S-tronic dual-clutch transmission.
The sports coupe features the Audi PS1 Safety Seat from the Audi R8 LMS ultra. It also boasts a prominent front splitter, side skirts, wide wheelarches, a central exhaust tailpipe and a huge rear wing.
For the interior, the TT race car gets a multi-function steering wheel, a roll cage and several other tweaks.
The Audi TT race car has received an electronically-variable active differential and is lighter than the production version by more than 200 kg.
