The luxury cruise segment is about to take a hit as Aman Resorts is preparing to enter the market with an exquisite vessel called Amangati. With 36 hotels and resorts all over the world, this renowned hospitality brand is now ready to tackle this segment with a daring project that pushes the company into superyacht-inspired travel for the very first time.
The yacht is 600 feet long and carries a 47-suite layout. Sinot Yacht Architecture & Design handled the styling work, while construction continues at the Italian T. Mariotti shipyard. Aman describes the vessel as an extension of its long-running “peaceful luxury” philosophy. Even the naming follows the same direction. Aman translates to “peace” in Sanskrit, while Amangati refers to “peaceful motion.”
Several hospitality companies have already stepped into sea-based luxury travel. Aman arrives later than the Ritz-Carlton and Four Seasons, though the company appears focused on a different tone. Smaller scale. More privacy. The ship targets intimate cruising instead of massive passenger capacity.
And yes, the onboard layout leans heavily into exclusivity. The Aman Spa acts as the centerpiece of the entire concept, pairing open-air serenity spaces with private treatment suites. Elsewhere, the yacht carries eight dining and lounge venues. Hiori and Akari stand out due to their Japanese-inspired dining experiences.
The largest accommodation onboard carries the Aman Suite name. Occupants receive nearly 2,000 square feet, or 183 square meters, together with an even larger private terrace. Wrap-around windows surround the suite, and the space includes a marble-clad bathroom plus a private sauna. Hard to call such quarters a cabin anymore.
Amangati also introduces dual-fuel propulsion technology. According to Aman, the system combines conventional fuel with green methanol, making the vessel the first of its kind to use such a setup. Another unusual element sits outside normal cruise operations. Although functioning as a cruise ship, the yacht also supports private charter bookings for guests seeking a more isolated experience at sea. Interested clients gain access to a digital charter brochure through direct request.
The launch schedule already exists. Amangati’s maiden voyage is planned for early May 2027, beginning with a Mediterranean route running from Palma de Mallorca to Nice.
The timing feels deliberate. Luxury hospitality brands continue drifting toward sea travel, though Aman appears less interested in scale and more interested in controlled atmosphere. Quiet spaces. Smaller guest counts. Long terraces overlooking open water. The entire project follows that same direction from top to bottom.
