The estate version of the new Volkswagen Golf R has been spied while being tested at the Nürburgring. The vehicle will likely make public debut in December at the Essen Motor Show.
Like the standard Golf R, the estate features a redesigned front bumper, R badging on the front grille, larger brakes and tyres and an improved suspension. Other highligths include a new rear diffuser and a quad exhaust system.
Powering the Golf R Estate is a four-cylinder 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine capable of generating 300 hp and 280 lb-ft of torque connected to a six-speed manual transmission or to an optional six-speed dual-clutch DSG. The car will be offered with a 4MOTION all-wheel drive system.
The Golf R Estate will be a little slower than the hatchback which hits 100 km/h in 5.1 seconds (even 4.9 seconds when equipped with the DSG transmission).
There’s still no word on pricing, but the Volkswagen Golf R Estate is expected to cost a little more than the Golf R hatchback which has a price tag of €38,325.
