Audi R8 e-tron piloted driving concept has been unveiled at the 2015 CES Asia in Shanghai. Teased many times until now the superb car has been long awaited by both car fans an specialists in the auto industry.
The R8 e-tron is Audi’s third autonomous concept. The superb vehicle is based on the all-electric R8 e-tron and good news are just about to come. The recently revealed Audi R8 e-tron runs on a 462 PS (340 kW) and 920 Nm (679 lb-ft) electric motor.
The engine provides enought power for the Audi R8 e-tron to take the 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) sprint in just 3.9 seconds. Basically the car provides an electric range of 450 km (279.6 miles) and comes with Combined Charging System (CCS), that makes possible charging the battery with direct and alternating current in just two hours time.
Future plans sound good to as the car maker explains it will be “introducing technologies into production which will handle the task of driving in certain situations, at the request of the driver”.
Thanks to special features such as a new array of sensors, a laser scanner, several video cameras, ultrasonic sensors and radar sensors “a comprehensive picture of the vehicle’s environment” is provided for the central driver assistance control unit (zFAS).
