Toyota engineers have successfully brought a vision to reality when they managed to transform a regular 2015 Camry into a unique race car. This Toyota Camry Sleeper dragster was rolled out during the 2014 SEMA Show in Las Vegas and it surely stunned the crowds.
The Camry Dragster has a production-style shell dropped on a full tube-frame chassis, wide drag racing tyres and a lower ride height.
The Toyota Camry Dragster borrows the 5.7-litre V8 engine, the transmission and the electronics from the Toyota Tundra pick-up. A TRD supercharger has been added as well as a wet-nitrous-injection system for more power and performance. The car packs 850 horsepower and is reportedly able to run the quarter mile in 9.8 seconds.
The cabin of the purpose-built dragster has been stripped out and comes with an Autometer digital dash, controls and space for one Fast Ed’s racing seat.
It’s worth noting that the Toyota Camry Sleeper Dragster was built in just 11 weeks. Unfortunately, the vehicle will not enter production.
