It’s a car we haven’t heard off, it was barely unveiled under the official designation of a concept yet this company claims it will soon enter production.
What I’m talking about is the Rimac Concept One we see here. An electric supercar which has the truly terrifying price tag of a regular such car.
Having been unveiled in Monaco, this doesn’t seem to have bothered a lot of people but really, this is scary, the Rimac Concept One will cost just shy of 1 million dollars.
Being specific, it’s $980.000 and that’s the american kind. So is it worth it? Well, with cars like these you can never really be sure.
There’s exclusivity to consider, there’s heritage, there’s brand naming and then there’s the extreme engineering that makes it special.
With the Rimac Concept One we’re looking at a Croatian start-up company that has no heritage and no popular brand. that’s bad.
On the upside, a very small company will only produce very small numbers of the stuff and exclusivity is pretty much guaranteed.
As for the engineering, the Concept One is said to be electric, but it’s walking along a path forged by the Tesla Roadster.
Except, unlike this product, the Rimac Concept One gets a 92kW battery pack which powers four electric motor, one driving each of the wheels.
In turn, that means that the Rimac supercar has 1088 horsepower and a staggering 2.802 lb-ft of torque.
With that truckload (literally) of torque, it’s obvious the performance is amazing. 0 to 62 happens in 2.8 seconds and the top speed is 190 mph.
Obviously there are some concerns related to range but the Rimac Concept One does seem to be worth it.
