Nissan has confirmed the rumors that the next GT-R will be a hybrid. While the car is not being currently produced, this is good news especially since we are as you know speaking of today’s automotive world where speculation is onmipresent.
Probably the GT-R hybrid will only be launched in 2017. Nissan UK’s sports car boss, James Oliver, stated that hybrid is the only way to go.
Recently the company has made serious investments in alternative propulsion technologies. Even so with competitors like Lamborghini or Ferrari, Nissan’s job is not so easy.
The R36 GT-R remains a great challenge for Nissan. Released in 2008 the GT-R offered a stunning level of performance. Basically it was great competition for cars that were twice as expensive. While six years ago things looked great, this is not the case anymore. Not only have competitors updated their car offers, but prices for the GT-R have gone up.
While production of a car that will be a perfect rival to the Porche 911 Turbo won’t be a problem for Nissan, keeping the retail prices low will. One thing producers need to seriously consider is the weight of the battery.
