Since the Ferrari brand isn’t the most common in the car world, you’d imagine a limited edition of one of their most important cars is rare enough.
The Ferrari 599 GTO is the coming together of two of the finest badges in automotive history and only 599 units have been made.
Despite this track record, Italian tuner Romeo Ferraris decided it could be made a little more distinctive than that if they have a go at it.
On the styling front, Romeo Ferraris didn’t mess about too much and they couldn’t really change too much without affecting the car’s balance.
They do offer a range of carbon fiber accessories such as revised side mirrors or a new rear diffuser or front splitter.
Under the bonnet things change a little bit. There’s a two stage tuning kit available for the 6.0 liter V12 engine in the Ferrari 599 GTO.
The first combines a new high flow air filter with a “sports exhaust system” (as if Ferrari fits something eco friendly) and ends up producing 676 horsepower and 467 lb-ft of torque.
If you’re feeling like you could go all out, Romeo Ferraris offers a revised ECU and yet more tricks for the exhaust system in its stage II kit.
This is where you develop some 710 horsepower and 493 lb-ft of torque. That won’t scare away the new cars but it means you can keep up with them.
Pricing? Availability? Warranty? Nope, the Italians didn’t discuss any of those things and it’s understandable.
After all, it’s more exciting to talk about performance when it comes to a tuned Ferrari.
