Aston Martin is a long running “coolest brand” champion in the UK and possibly one of the most loved ones around the world.
Which begs the question, why would they ever unveil a car that has as stupid a name as Project AM310? It’s hard to comprehend until you understand it’s just a concept.
The best we can consider it is a preview to the next generation of Aston Martin DBS. Also, it’s a good way to get yourself an idea about the upcoming DB9.
The British company will deny it point blank that these models have anything to do with each other but since we don’t live in their fantasy world we’re able to figure it out pretty much on the spot.
Overall, the design seems to blend the general shape of the current DBS with the front end of the Virage and rear end of the One-77 limited edition.
That goes a long way towards finding the new DBS’ spot in the market and is something as playful as Aston Martin will ever go.
The performance aspect of the new Aston Martin DBS is still under wraps. All the information that’s available right now is that a 6.0 liter V12 engine is powering it.
Not exactly the most dramatic of all breakthroughs since Aston Martin have been using a 5.9 liter one for about, oh, since people put in the foundation on Stonehenge.
Therefore, Project AM310 is Aston Martin’s way of reminding us they can sketch a pretty car that’s not completely new while they’re showing off at the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este.
