The Japanese automaker has released official pictures of the next generation Mazda 2, also labelled as ‘Demio’.
The super-mini Mazda 2 will be available with two 1.5-litre petrol and diesel engines and a 1.3 gasoline unit, all with Skyactiv treatment. The transmission will be a six-speed manual or automatic. An electric production vehicle is likely to be introduced as well.
2015 Mazda 2 shares similarities in design with the Hazumi Concept that was presented to the public at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2014 and displays the edgy ‘Kodo’ design language borrowed from the Mazda 6. This five-door hatchback has received a prominent grille, sleek headlights and angular rear lights.
The interior of the little hatch offers more space and features leather seats, a tablet screen, a rotary controller, a heads-up display option and in-car connectivity.
2015 Mazda 2 will go on sale in Japan in August and is expected to hit the European market in the early 2015.
More details of this Ford Fiesta rival will be released at a later date.
