Premier date for second generation Audi R8 has been officially revealed. Recently Audi board member for technical development Ulrich Hackenberg has stated that the new Audi R8 will be presented at the Geneva Motor Show that will take place, as scheduled, in March.
As far as the R8 is concerned interesting details have been offered by Hackenberg in an interview for CarAdvice. Audi board member for technical development mentioned that the R8 will not have a manual transmission explaining that “double-clutch gearboxes are extremely sporty, and if you want to drive extremely sporty and fast, for the record of your personal lap time, you will need a double-clutch.”
Important information have also been offered about another much awaited for Audi model. We refer to the e-tron all-electric version. Hackenberg gave insurance that the prior mentioned model will debut with the R8 succesor.
“That (the e-tron) will be introduced with the successor of the R8, and we will have first example of the car… in next March, at Geneva, so you will see, it’s done”, stated the board member for technical development.
As far as under hood arsenal rumours go the R8 e-tron will have a range of up to 400 km (248 miles) on a single charge. Hackenberg stated that engineers are currently working on increasing the range to 500 or more kilometers.
