I find the Nissan Patrol in all its iterations an exclusive off-road and all-terrain vehicle, with impressive power punch and evolutionary design. What is interesting about this truck is that it gradually became enhanced with the latest technological and safety features, whenever the carmaker releases a facelifted or a new model.
It also happens to the new Nissan Patrol Y62, already announced in the United States a few months ago, and now making its way in Australia to fight against the star of the stars – the new Toyota Land Cruiser.
The 2018 Nissan Patrol Y62 is available in two variants – the Patrol Ti ($71,990) and Patrol Ti-L ($88,990); both are extremely well-equipped technologically, coming as well with plenty of new safety features.
We are dealing here with a suite of new high-tech gizmos, like the newly-introduced four parking sensors at the front and rear, adding as well Intelligent Rear-View Camera system or rear-view and 360-degree vie camera system.
The rear passengers also benefit from the best entertainment treatment, like new 8.0-inch touchscreens, with different apps designed for media playing, music and so on. There are also two USB ports to the back of the center console for the rear passengers. The main dashboard retains the 8.0-inch touchscreen media interface with sat-nav, 3D maps or Bluetooth connectivity.
Visually, the all-new 2018 Nissan Patrol Y62 comes with minor styling changes, like updated front bumper bar for a chunkier chin, new flash new grill, fig light clusters and 18-inch alloy wheels.
Power remains the car`s main ingredient, thanks to its massive 5.6-liter naturally-aspirated V8 mill, with 298 kW and 560 Nm of torque. The performance figures remain the same as the last year`s model, meaning just 7.5 seconds from standstill to 100 km/h.
With the introduction of the facelifted 2018 Nissan Patrol Y62 in Australia, the Japanese carmaker plans to regain some of the market share, especially since sales have been down by around 50 percent compared to last year`s same period.
