Fiat Punto is a small family car that was first produced in 1993 and has been in production ever since.
The Fiat Punto is a passenger car produced by the Italian automaker Fiat since the year 1993 and falls under the category of a supermini automobile. Before the Tipo was resurrected in 2016, the Punto was in its third generation and remains an integral part of Fiat’s lineup as a functional, affordable B-segment hatchback developed specifically for the European market.
In this part of the facelift, changes are made to the exterior of the car.
To ensure that the Punto attracts potential buyers in the market, Fiat has added some changes to the car for the 2015 model year. The most significant alteration is done to the front end, where the car now comes with a larger grill and new bumpers to give it a more masculine look. The headlights have also been redesigned with LED daytime running lights on the plus trims and some models.
As far as I am concerned these exterior modifications make the Punto appear trendier and more muscular, which will go a long way in overcoming the stiff competition from other trendy supermini’s like the Ford Fiesta and the VW Polo. They have also increased the chrome accents and the use of LEDs to give the car a more contemporary look.
Upgraded Interior Technology
On the inside, it goes on to deliver the practicality that is expected from a small hatchback and is available in the new 2015 Fiat Punto. Still, Fiat has given a new touch to interior technology and the background for a better look. In terms of updates, there is a new 5-inch touch screen for the infotainment system, while at the higher trims, there is a new leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob.
It appears more aesthetically pleasing and professional to my perception in this case. One of these exterior changes is the gloss black accents around the new infotainment screen. The leather of the steering wheel is also very nice, although it seems to be more of a luxury for an inexpensive car in this segment. It makes the cabin to look more elegant, this is because most cars that are considered classy usually have interiors that are well designed.
More Efficient Engine Options
Still hidden underneath the skin, Fiat has not done away with the small-displacement efficient engines Punto. The gasoline choices are a 1.2-liter turbocharged four-cylinder gas engine and a 1.0-liter/1.5-liter turbocharged three-cylinder gas engine, which produces 69 and 105 horsepower, respectively. Those willing to opt for diesel engines will have a 1.3-liter or 1.6-liter MultiJet II turbo types of diesel with power ranging from 75 HP to 120 HP.
Despite lacking the excitement, these powertrains provide good fuel efficiency as expected for European city commutes. I believe the mainstream 69-hp gas engine should suffice the customers, although the diesels offer good low-end pull and efficiency. Well, the Punto has never been a car that was designed with velocity in a straight line being its forte.
Affordable Style and Practicality
The Abarth 500 has been tidied up, its cabin technology has been improved, and it offers fuel-efficient engines; the 2015 Fiat Punto is a compelling proposition among superminis. It still remains the budget-oriented and functional car consumers want and need, but with a fresher, new look in terms of interior and exterior designs.
Frankly, in my opinion, Fiat has retained the good points of Punto while has done some pleasant changes. For the customer who is looking for an economical car with good fuel economy, and something that has a hint of European flair the new Punto should definitely be on the list for trial before purchase. This facelift helps it retain its position as an inexpensive, entertaining small car.
